How the Release Tracker works
What is the Release Tracker?
DoubleOak's Release Tracker follows new bourbon and whiskey on the way to shelves. It starts at the earliest public signal, the day a bottle's label is approved, so you can see a release coming long before it lands. Set a bounty in the app and you'll get an alert when a hunter spots it near you.
What is a TTB label approval?
Every bottle of whiskey sold in the US needs its label approved by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) first. The approval is called a COLA, a Certificate of Label Approval. Brands file them ahead of a release, so new approvals are one of the earliest public signs of what is coming.
Does an approved label mean the bottle is coming out?
Not on any set date. Some bottles reach shelves within weeks of approval, some take months, and some never ship. Brands also re-file labels for new sizes, proofs or batches, so an approval can be a new release or a new version of an existing one.
How often is this page updated?
Every day. New approvals usually appear here within a few days of the TTB approving them. Each label is dated by its approval day.
Where does the data come from?
The TTB's public COLA registry, which publishes the approved label artwork. Every label page links to its official TTB record, and where we can, we match the label to its distillery and to the bottle in DoubleOak's catalog. DoubleOak is not affiliated with the TTB.
